State FFA Convention

The Riverdale FFA Chapter recently had four members travel to Columbus for the 89th annual State FFA Convention. These members included Kohlten Shane, Breanah Shane, Cara Pauley, and Carrol Pauley. On the way down to Columbus they stopped at the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Members got the chance to see and learn about the different opportunities professionals get faced with and the laboratories that they get to work in. The members then got to watch an OSU baseball game. The next morning they got up bright and early to set up for the Food For Thought Grant presentation sponsored by Ohio Corn and Wheat Association. Riverdale received 2nd place. The next thing on the agenda was the first session. At the first session members represented Riverdale on stage for the following awards: Children’s Hospital, Ohio FFA Foundation Chapter Trust, and Ohio FFA Camp Discovery Center. Members then got to enjoy an evening of bowling. On Friday, our officers got recognized for their gold rated books: Treasurer, Breanah Shane; Secretary, Cara Pauley; and Reporter, Carrol Pauley. Throughout the convention members got to enjoy the Career Show and Expo where they got to learn about new things and interesting careers that are available in agriculture. Convention came to a close with the fifth session and the State Degree Ceremony. Riverdale had five members received their State Degree this year and they include: Max Corbin, Kori Frey, Lindsay Nichols, Carrol Pauley, and Breanah Shane.

Arlington Good Samaritans Lunch

Seven of the Riverdale FFA officers joined the community for lunch at Jack and Do’s in Arlington. They got to talk to community members about anything and everything. They then got to listen to the guest speaker, Glen Arnold. Glen talked about the clean water project and how he works with farmers that are using manure on their fields to prevent it from going into the waterways. They then had door prizes.

Ag Leaders Breakfast

The Riverdale FFA Chapter had seven of its officer’s travel to the Wyandot county fairgrounds to have breakfast with some of the agricultural leaders in the community. Each member had the pleasure to eat breakfast and talk to community members. We also had the pleasure listening to our guest speaker Randy Fisher.

Ag Sales

The Riverdale FFA Chapter sent one team of four to the Sub-District Ag Sales contest. This contest allows students to have the opportunity to demonstrate skills in sales by participating in a wide range of activities oriented around the total sales process. The team placed 3rd out of 9 teams this year, and Cara Pauley placed 4th individually.
